We were amazed at how many cars were on the road between Fernley and Silver Springs. It's been a long time since we traveled this road much and we've always thought of it as a seldom used road. Not Anymore! Where did all these folks come from? The traffic was even heavier on Hwy. 50 where we really got to

Live to Eat!

Considering all the vices available to us, I don't consider our addiction to food to be as harmful to us as an addiction to sex, drugs or alchohol and it's so much easier to get our fix from the fridge or the pantry. Sometimes it's necessary to deal with the middle man when we want something special and that's the reason we spend so much time looking for the best deals on good stuff we can't make ourselves.
This week we were in Fernley, hungry and looking for something besides Wendy's or the Col. and we were lucky enough to find a great roadside hamburger stand on Main Street. It's the House of Snacks. Just look for the little blue and white hamburger stand at 135 W. Main Street with the Harley parked next to it. Curtis, the new owner/cook whipped up a great, juicy burger in just a few minutes making it a fast food stop, but we were able to take our time and enjoy our food sitting at one of the picnic tables in back in the shade of a big tree. This is a great destination for a bunch of bikers crusing Highway 80 looking for a food fix. There's lots of parking in back by the picnic tables and Curtis is the perfect host. Tell him Irish sent you.
watch a bunch of idiots playing road rage as they took turns passing each other trying to get one length closer to home or the golf course. Stopped at Frank and Frankie's next to the Carson Plains Casino in Dayton for some of their great marinara sauce and pasta and to spand a little time bs'ing with Frank and watching the cars flying by. One more stop at Smith's to pick up some Italian sausage. Took it home and simmered them in Frank's sauce before I dumped it on top of a huge pile of pasta.
